In 2007, the Historical Museum of Krakow acquired a building at 337 Księcia Józefa Street, which was designated as the central storage facility for its collections. In 2008–2009, a project for its adaptation was developed. During the conceptual work, it was decided to expand the function of the storage facilities to include access for visitors in order to exploit the educational potential of collections that are not normally accessible to the public. Thus, the idea of a modern facility combining storage with the interpretation of artefacts was born. Thanks to the glass-walled storage facilities and a designated tour route, visitors can view, among other things, a collection of Krakow nativity scenes, crafts, furniture, coins, weapons, graphics, textiles and paintings. The whole is complemented by scenographic elements that soften the technical character of the storage facility.

Estimated time of the visit: 75 min.
