The first mention of the town hall dates back to 1316, and the building was expanded many times from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance. The entire town hall existed until 1820, when it was demolished, leaving only the tower. The tower, over 70 metres high, has preserved numerous historic interiors. The ground floor used to house the treasury, and today you can see unique gmerki – stonemason's marks from the 15th century. The upper floors house representative Gothic halls and exhibitions of architectural details, and the third floor offers a panoramic view of Krakow. The former clock mechanism has been preserved on the top floor. Beneath the tower are the cellars of the former town hall, including the famous Świdnicka Cellar, once an important place for trading beer and wine, as well as prison dungeons and a torture chamber. Today, the underground rooms serve cultural and gastronomic functions.

Estimated time of the visit: 30 min.
